MAJOR PLAYERS MAKING A MAJOR CHANGE
A decision made just last week will bring an exciting change to this year’s racing season. And the change is: there will be a racing season.
On December 29th, 1999, the well-known pioneering businessmen and racing enthusiasts Earl Snurley, Ayrton Weird, and Skyler Imagi announced the formation of the Mainland Racing Organization, a company dedicated to organizing a championship series for “Stock Car” racing. Race fans know that there have been races at short tracks scattered across our chunk of Imaginary Land ever since the automobile was invented on our dimensional neighbor, Planet Earth, but there has never been a formal schedule or points system. This year, for the first time, the Mainland’s best drivers will be able to race for a Championship Trophy.
Ayrton Weird had this to say: “This championship series we are creating has always been a dream of mine, and now it’s finally coming true. This year, for the first time, our Mainland’s best drivers will be able to have a blast racing head-to-head over a full season, and it will be possible to determine who’s really the best driver of the year. I’m extremely excited, and I know every fan I’ve talked to has been as well. I’d just like to thank all the track owners, statisticians, drivers, and fellow businessmen — especially Skyler and Mr. Snurley here — for making this possible.”
